Position Overview
Embark Education is seeking an enthusiastic Music Instructor who uses a multisensory approach to inspire young children in an inclusive classroom setting. The ideal candidate values diversity and belonging and creates joyful musical experiences that support children of all abilities and learning styles.
The Music Instructor will lead 8-9 classes in 25-minute increments twice weekly between 9:00 AM and 12:00 PM. Lessons should encourage movement, creativity, self-expression, sensory exploration, and social-emotional growth through music.
Responsibilities
- Plan and lead developmentally appropriate music experiences for infants, toddlers, and preschool-aged children
- Incorporate multisensory teaching strategies including movement, rhythm, instruments, visuals, storytelling, and interactive play
- Foster an inclusive environment where every child feels welcomed, supported, and successful
- Adapt activities to meet a variety of developmental and learning needs
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and staff to support children’s participation and engagement
- Maintain a positive, nurturing, and energetic classroom presence
- Organize and care for music materials and instruments
- Communicate professionally with staff and families
- Develop and lead a winter music performance or showcase for families that celebrates participation, creativity, and community
Qualifications
- Experience teaching music to young children, preferably in an early childhood or inclusive setting
- Knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practices
- Ability to engage children through movement, singing, rhythm, and play-based learning
- Comfortable working with children of varying abilities and backgrounds
- Strong communication, creativity, and classroom management skills
- Degree or coursework in music education, early childhood education, music therapy, or a related field preferred
