Benefits & Compensation: $60,000 - $85,000 commensurate with education and experience; paid vacation and sick leave; and health insurance and education subsidies.
POSITION OVERVIEW
Our next Executive Director is a passionate and inspirational leader who will serve as the heart of the Center, a cooperative, parent-led child care community. This role provides compassionate and collaborative leadership to ensure nurturing, high-quality early childhood programming in a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment. The Executive Director builds strong partnerships with families, staff, and the broader community, while ensuring compliance with Maryland child care licensing regulations and responsible fiscal stewardship. Guided by the Center’s mission and values, they will lead and support staff growth, cultivate a positive and respectful workplace culture, and work closely with the Board of Directors on long-term strategic planning. They will have a strong knowledge of child development and instructional best practices. The Executive Director operates under the direct authority of the Board and in service to the Center’s families and children.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Child Enrollment, Family Engagement & Community Partnerships
● Recruit and enroll children to maintain enrollment goals in four classrooms serving children ranging from infant to preschool ages.
● Use business, sales, and marketing strategies to expand the Center’s presence and ensure maximum enrollment.
● Encourage and coordinate parent participation in center maintenance, fundraising, social events, and classroom activities.
● Cultivate positive relationships with families, teachers, licensing authorities, community partners, and other stakeholders to support the commitment to high quality care and education.
● Maintain strong, consistent communication with families via monthly calendars, newsletters, weekly emails, and regular updates.
Staff Leadership, Hiring & Development
● Hire, engage, and develop a team of passionate educators committed to delivering high-quality care.
● Identify staff training needs and coordinate or deliver relevant professional development and in-service training.
● Facilitate regular staff meetings and provide ongoing coaching, mentorship, and feedback.
● Conduct annual performance evaluations and support continuous staff growth and accountability.
● Maintain accurate, up-to-date, and compliant personnel records for all staff members.
● Ensure accurate timekeeping and monitor staff attendance in accordance with organizational policies.
Program Administration
● Oversee daily operations to ensure safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate programs for children.Outstanding customer service and organizational skills.
● Promote a positive, inclusive environment for children, families, and staff. Able to multitask in a fast paced and energetic environment.
Greenway Learning Center Executive Director

● Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other applications; and the ability to edit and manage the Center website.
Financial Management
● Provide oversight of payroll and ensure the accurate maintenance and reconciliation of accounting records related to tuition and fundraising, in coordination with the Center accountant and Board Treasurer.
● Experience with budget development, financial oversight, and revenue-generation strategies—including tuition management, forecasting, and fundraising preferred.
Licensing, Compliance & Reporting
● Maintain full compliance with all Maryland Department of Child Care Licensing and Regulation requirements.

○ The Executive Director must be able to be present on site and move throughout the Center to provide oversight and supervision of programs, staff, and children, including indoor and outdoor areas. The position may require the ability to sit on the floor; bend, stoop, kneel, and stand for extended periods; and lift, carry, or assist with children, supplies, or equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.
○ The role requires sufficient vision, hearing, and communication abilities to effectively supervise children, respond to safety situations, and interact with staff and families. The position also involves regular use of standard office equipment, including computers, phones, and other administrative tools, and may require outdoor supervision in varying weather conditions.
